t2′12 Challenge to be released 2012-09-01 10:00 EEST

We’re pleased to announce the release of the t2’12 Challenge!

This year’s challenge starts from the homepage of a young woman who is rumored to be the girlfriend of an infamous carder. To solve the challenge, the participants need to step into investigator’s shoes and follow the clues to find all gang members. But this is only where the challenge begins – each gang member possesses a piece of a secret image file that they have hidden using their own expertise.

Gang members and their secrets can be revealed in any order. The scoreboard shows real-time overview of all investigators, as well as detailed TOP 20 ranking. What is more, this year’s challenge will require a more diverse skillset than ever before. Finding the gang members from the Interwebs is a challenge in its own right but some serious ninja skills are required to unravel the hidden image files.

The rules are simple: the first one to solve the challenge will win free admission to the t2’12 infosec conference. But don’t stop just because you weren’t the first one to solve it: The Advisory Board will select another winner among the next ten correct answers, paying particular attention to the elegance of the solution rather than the speed. In other words you can win with either speed or style 🙂

The t2’12 Challenge will be released 2012-09-01 10:00 EEST right here at http://t2.fi/

t2′11 Challenge Winners

Ludvig Strigeus from Sweden was the first one to solve the t2’11 Challenge. The competition was fierce with only a four minute margin between first and second place!

The second ticket goes to Finland’s Timo Teräs. Officially, he’ll be known as Mr. Elegance for 2011. His write up was extremely well done and he pretty much found all the Easter eggs, too. This was no small feat by any means as the overall quality of the submitted write-ups this year was outstanding!

Congratulations to both winners!

We would like to thank everyone for participating. And, if you feel that you have an interesting Challenge to suggest for t2’12, please let us know 🙂

t2′11 Challenge to be released 2011-09-10 10:00 EEST

Since the dawn of our species (well 2005, if you want to be picky about it) t2 has been granting free admission to the elite of their kind, the winners of the t2 Challenges. Don’t be suckered in by all the cheap imitations out there, their snooze-fest la-di-da dog and pony shows, because t2 is back! And we’re pleased to announce the release of the t2’11 Challenge!

Now is your chance to join the past elites by winning free admission to this year’s conference!

This year’s t2’11 Challenge is based on multi-staging (much like good shell code), which will be powered by a scoreboard so that you can see — (almost) in real time — how the other participants are fairing out there in the land of the living.

The rules are simple: t2 will release the t2’11 Challenge and the first one to solve it will win free admission to the t2’11. But don’t stop just because you weren’t the first one to solve it: The Advisory Board will select another winner among the next ten correct answers, paying particular attention to the elegance of the solution rather than the speed. In other words you can win with either speed or style 🙂

t2’10 Challenge Winners

Peter Kosinar from Slovakia was the first one to solve the t2’10 Challenge. The speed that he pulled off the Challenge was absolutely amazing. His solution was both fast and elegant. One could easily think that Mr. Kosinar has solved some other challenges in the past 🙂

The second ticket goes to Mathieu Gaspard, France (again). He is the official Mr. Elegance (again). His write up was extremely well written and included excellent screen shots and illustrations. We will publish his write up shortly.

Congratulations to both winners!

We would also like to thank everybody who attended. If you feel that you would have an interesting Challenge for t2’11 please let us know 🙂
